Clay Tobacco Pipe
Description
Sixty-one fragments of clay tobacco pipe were recovered from the site of the wreck. They include seventeen bowls and forty-four stems. Of these four are considered obtrusive finds dating to the 18th century.
The pipes recovered from the site fit into two main groups; this pipe belongs to the second group that has been stamped with the fleur-de-lys dating between 1625-1650. These pipes are of a much higher quality and have not been smoked suggesting that they may have been a personal cargo.
