In 2016 MAST received a £2 million grant from the LIBOR fund for the rescue excavation of the wreck of the first HMS Invincible built in 1744.
MAST formed a partnerships with the National Museum of the Royal Navy, Pascoe Archaeological Services and Bournemouth University as the Archaeoloigcal and Diving contractors to conduct this work.
Three dive seasons (2017-2019) have taken place on the site recovering 1000s of artefacts which are currently undergoing conservation and post-excavation recording at the BU/MAST facility in Poole.
Photogrammetic models of Trench 1 and 2 can be seen below for more information on the work done so far by BU and its partners see the MAST webpage.
